What we demand

Our every day activities are changing our climate and threatening our lives. Yet, the international community has no plan to prevent dangerous climate change for the post-2012 period. This lack of initiative is endangering the whole world. Let’s choose to avoid the worst!

By marching, we will demand 3 things:

  • During the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Montreal, all countries of the world must make important steps towards the negotiation of a long term, ambitious and fair plan to intensify the global fight against climate change that will be ready to adopt in 2008 and ready to implement in 2012.
  • As the host country of this Conference, Canada must act as a leader to facilitate action in the global fight against climate change.
  • Canada must also increase its domestic efforts to prevent climate change. It must not only achieve, but surpass its commitments taken under the Kyoto Protocol. It must also give itself a strong action plan to green its economy, to make its society sustainable and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60% to 80% by 2050.

Time is running out. We have been debating this topic for 30 years. Let’s not wait any longer: the time for action is now!
